About the event
TORONTO! Are you ready for yet another excellent night of live music?!
Linsmore Tavern is extremely excited to welcome back The Spiral Theory on Friday, Nov 3rd. The Spiral Theory is a unique tribute band focusing on three of the greatest bands over the last 50 years - The Police, U2, and R.E.M.
Wait, there is more... Their sets for the evening will also include equally energetic and crowd-pleasing covers from other influential rockers (The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, The Strokes, The Black Keys, and the likes of them) who followed the above pioneers of modern rock. They also sandwich a few classic Canadian covers (of Rush, Hip, Cure, and Bryan Adams) between their sets. Lastly, Linsmore regulars have always commented that they can never distinguish The Spiral Theory's thought-provoking originals from the classics they play.
This rocking band will entertain your socks off just like all their previous shows at Linsmore for an always-capacity crowd, so we are thrilled to bring them back again this Fall!
The show starts at 9 pm, you do not want to miss this one!
THE PIONEERS OF MODERN ROCK! In 1983, The Police were selling out stadiums across North America as the world’s popular rock band, barely known as R.E.M. then, were their opening act. In 1985, U2 played the Longest Day festival in Milton Keynes, England, with R.E.M. sharing the same bill. Bono stated meeting Stipe on that day ensuing their friendship was one of the key moments of his life. In 1986, Amnesty National Tour at Giants Stadium in New York, The Police symbolically handed over their instruments to U2 which was later celebrated historically in rock history as if a torch was officially passed upon to carry the legacy. By 1991, after the releases of “Achtung Baby” and “Out of Time”, U2 and R.E.M. had become “the most important rock bands of a generation, setting a new standard for how arena rock concerts could feel and how they could communicate.” – The Chicago Tribune.
